Looking for René Magritte, the Department of Modern Art in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium is the place to be. With the largest public collection of his work in the world - in a venue open to all - it has some 150 works by the artist, in all techniques, and a huge archive of letters, musical scores, 'cadavres exquis', souvenirs, and photos... All the various phases of Magritte's artistic career are covered, from the early Constructivist period, through the so-called 'Renoir' and 'Vache' periods to the final, mature works from the last years of the artist's life.
